   Dragonfly

      Hunters

We’re doing this project to see if Air quality and Water quality affect Dragonflies and their behavior. People can help contribute to this project by filling out and completing our own project for Dragonflies. Monitor the number of Dragonflies and the types within a 10 minute survey. There are many locations people can set up this project, from a very marshy area to areas with water in the sun. Dragonflies like many insects are cold blooded and have to keep warm in the sun. Our group has been to countless locations around Chicago, Lily Pond, North Pond, South Pond, South Lagoon, and Natures Boardwalk.   The “Dragonfly Hunters” project is a project built of a former Dragonfly project from previous years. This time we’re looking to learn how two subject matters; Air quality and Water quality, affect the quantity of  Dragonflies and their behavior. The past two weeks now we’ve had conducted numeral surveys of testings. Two very helpful surveys are the stationary test, and the traveling test. The stationary test is where we go out to a sunny, Dragonfly induce location and sit for 10 minutes to observe and specify the number of Dragonflies we see, and the type of dragonflies we’re in contact with. The traveling test is a test where we start out at a certain location where there is dragonflies in the area, from there we start walking and we record data as we walk. Again people can contribute to our project by completing these two tests and uploading their own observing to Epicollect, under the project name “Dragonfly Hunters”.
